Sisters Who Pray Together: Week 2, Encouraging in Faith

Scripture Focus

Luke 1:39–45
"Blessed is she who has believed that the Lord would fulfill his promises to her!" – Luke 1:45 (NIV)

Who Were Elizabeth and Mary?

Elizabeth and Mary shared more than just a family connection—they shared a divine calling. Elizabeth, once barren, miraculously carried John the Baptist. Mary, a young virgin, had just received word she would carry the Savior of the world. When Mary visited Elizabeth, the baby in Elizabeth’s womb leapt with joy, and Elizabeth responded by blessing and affirming Mary’s faith.

In that sacred moment, Elizabeth didn’t compare, compete, or criticize. She encouraged. She believed. She blessed.

Devotional Thought

True sisterhood celebrates, supports, and speaks life.

When Mary entered Elizabeth’s home, she was likely still processing the fear, uncertainty, and wonder of what God had spoken to her. And who met her at the door? A woman of faith. A woman who didn’t doubt her. A woman who confirmed what God had already said.
That’s the kind of sisterhood God desires for us—one where we affirm what God is doing in one another’s lives.

Where we speak life, declare truth, and rejoice when another woman is chosen, favored, or blessed.
